I made this dining room table out of Ipe (Brazilian Walnut) and a multi-colored, 3D epoxy river featuring local “Petoskey Stones” for our house on Lake Michigan. It measures 80” x 40” and sits on a custom-made steel base we designed and had welded and powder-coated locally here in Northern Michigan.

Petoskey stones are unique, fossilized corals found along the shores of Lake Michigan. These stones are Michigan's state stone and are made up of tightly packed, six-sided corallites, which are the skeletons of ancient rugose coral.

Some details of the live edges and epoxy

We poured this Caribbean Blue epoxy through some voids on the top of the wood, and it made a waterfall on the lower river….

We designed the base to maximize seating, and had it custom welded and powder-coated in a metallic bronze color that complements the wood.
